2020 NFL Draft Recap

Joe Burrow QB

Cincinnati Bengals

Round 1 Pick 1

(1st Overall)

Joe Burrow is a 6'4 215 pound quarterback out of Louisiana State University. He is extremely accurate at throwing the ball to all levels of the field and has elite touch on his deep throws. He has great pocket presence as when at LSU he never panicked when the presser would come. This can be accredited to the fact that he excels when the play begins to break down. He has some mobility to his game as he ran a 4.72 40 yard dash so he is not Tom Brady in the pocket but more like Carson Wentz. Burrow was selected 1st overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft. This is a great landing spot for Burrow as last season the Bengals were top 7 in pass attempts, pass percent and red zone pass percent per game. They also had the 6th most pass attempts per game so they want to throw the ball. Burrow will have lots of weapons in the pass game as the Bengals have A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, Joe Mixon and rookie Tee Higgins to throw to. 4 of the past 5 QBs picked 1st overall have finished their rookie season as a top-16 QB in terms of fantasy points.

Tua Tagovailoa QB

Miami Dolphins

Round 1 Pick 5

(5th Overall)

Tua Tagovailoa is a 6' 217 pound quarterback out of the University of Alabama. Tua is an incredibly poised and accurate in the pocket which helps him to place the ball exactly where it needs to be. Tua is a lot like Drew Brees in the sense that he excels in throwing with anticipation and touch. He is mobile enough to maneuver the pocket and throws very well on the run. Tua was selected 5th overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft. He will most likely start the season as the number 2 QB behind Ryan Fitzpatrick. Since 2010 all 13 QBs drafted in the top 5 overall have played at least 4 games. This season the Dolphins will most likely have to throw most of the time due to the fact that they will still not be good. This season the Dolphins hired Chan Gailey to serve as offensive coordinator which is a positive for Tua. The offense is going to be a spread but balanced system with a fast tempo and plenty of play action which is Tua is extremely deadly at.

Henry Ruggs III WR

Las Vegas Raiders

Round 1 Pick 12

(12th Overall)

Henry Ruggs III is a 5'11 188 pound WR out of the University of Alabama. You want fast Ruggs III has you covered with his blazing 4.27 40 yard dash. He is great on short routs as he is able to get in and out of his cuts so quickly due to his blazing speed. He is very agile which helps him to leap over defenders and high point the ball. Ruggs III was selected 12th overall by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2020 NFL Draft. You just knew Ruggs III had to be a Raider because they always draft speed. This is the best landing spot for Ruggs III du to the fact that he will be the number one option in the pass game.

Justin Jefferson WR

Minnesota Vikings

Round 1 Pick 22

(22nd Overall)

Justin Jefferson is a 6'1 200 pound WR out of Louisiana State University. Jefferson while at LSU was an excellent slot receiver who was a great rout runner. He is extremely sure handed so when you throw the ball in his direction he is going to make the catch. The part of Jeffersons' game that is underestimated is the fact that he is a terrific blocker. Jefferson was selected with the 22nd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings offense is one of the heaviest run teams in the NFL which is not the greatest for Jeffersons' value this season. The Vikings were 29th in pass attempts per game last season. Jefferson should play the "Stefon Diggs" role in the offense which some weeks will be great and others will be not so great.

Clyde Edwards-Helair RB

Kansas City Chiefs

Round 1 Pick 32

(32nd Overall)

Clyde Edwards-Helair is a 5'7 208 pound RB out of Louisiana State University. Edwards-Helair is a short, compact back with a low center of gravity. Edwards-Helair short stature helps him because he is extremely difficult to take down and creates those hidden extra yards. He is very elusive in the open field just look at his devastating spin move. He is an excellent pass catcher out of the backfield which is good as he will not have to come off of the field on third down. He is a good pass blocker which is good as being a poor pass blocker hinders a rookie back from playing. Edwards-Helair was selected with the 32nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards-Helair is going to have some competition for the starting tailback spot in Kansas City in Damien Williams. He should beat out Williams since when asked who the Chiefs who they should draft Patrick Mahomes said, "Clyde Edwards-Helair". The Chiefs are a great screen game team which is good for Edwards-Helair because he is so good at catching the ball.

Jonathan Taylor RB

Indianapolis Colts

Round 2 Pick 9

(41st Overall)

Johnathan Taylor is a 5'10 225 pound RB out of the University of Wisconsin. Taylor has the perfect speed to size combo as he ran a 4.39 40 yard dash. He is incredibly patient as a runner due to his great vision and awareness. He is a grinder between the tackles and has a North-South run style. This will be good since Taylor and Marlon Mack will be sharing RB duties and their play style complement each other so well. Taylor was selected with the 41st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He joins a Colts team that has the best offensive line in the NFL. The Colts offensive line was 5th in yards per rush before first contact to the RB last season. They want to run the ball a lot as they were ranked 6th in red zone rush percent and were the 7th ranked rush offense in the NFL.
