Arizona Cardinals
Kenyan Drake RB
Kenyan Drake signed his transition tag on March 21. Last season Drake was 2nd among RBs in carries from shotgun (79%) for 5.5 YPC (yards per carries) (5th-best). He faced 8 plus men in the box on just 8% of carries (3rd-lowest rate). He was 10th among RBs in off-tackle rushes (52%) for 5.6 YPC (yards per carries) (5th-best). From week 9 when Drake was traded to the Cardinals he averaged 18.9 touches, 101.8 scrimmage yards and had 8 touchdowns. He also had 4.9 targets a game and was the 3rd best RB in fantasy football in that span.
DeAndre Hopkins WR
DeAndre Hopkins was acquired in a trade with the Texans in exchange for RB David Johnson. Hopkins will really help Kyler Murray as he ranked 23rd in percent of passes thrown deep (18.1%). Since 2017 Hopkins is tied for second among WRs in deep touchdown receptions. Murray also was 27th in passer rating out of the pocket despite being 4th in out of the pocket pass attempts. Since 2018 Hopkins is tied for the most touchdown receptions when his QB is out of the pocket.
Atlanta Falcons
Todd Gurley RB
In a surprise move Todd Gurley was released by the Rams. Gurley signed with the Falcons on a 1 year $6 million dollar deal. Atlanta is a good landing spot for Gurley as the Falcons use the RB in the pass game a lot. This is good for Gurley because he had highest value when the Rams used his excellent pass catching abilitys.
Hayden Hurst TE
Haden Hurst was acquired in a trade with the Ravens. Hurst has always had the skill set to be a great TE but he has never had the opportunity to be the main TE. The Falcons get the TE position involved in the pass game a lot. Last season they were top 10 in TE targets and tied for 6th in TE red zone targets.
Buffalo Bills
Stefon Diggs WR
After wanting to be trades for at least a year Diggs was finally traded as he was traded to the Bills. Diggs new QB Josh Allen likes to throw the ball deep which is good as Diggs is excellent at catching the deep pass. For Allen's career he has an average of 9.4 air yards per attempt (2nd most since 2018). In 2019 Diggs was 10th in the NFL in air yards per target, yard per game and fantasy points off deep passes.
Carolina Panthers
Teddy Bridgewater QB
Teddy Bridgewater signed a 3 year $63 million dollar deal with the Panthers. Last season Bridgewater had the lowest depth of throw at only 6.1 yards. This is good for the Panthers RBs but it is bad for the Panthers WRs. In the 6 games Bridgewater played in he targeted the RB position on an average of 6.2 times a game.
Denver Broncos
Melvin Gordon RB
Last season Melvin Gordon held out with the Chargers and this season him and the Chargers decided to go their separate ways. Gordon signed a 2 year $16 million dollar deal with the Broncos. This is not a good landing spot for Gordon. He needs volume to be productive and will have a lot of competition for carries. He needs so many carries because he has an average of less than 4 yards per carry in 4 of his 5 NFL seasons. The Broncos also will be a slower-paced and less-potent offense than the Chargers which will limit Gordons opportunities.
Houston Texans
David Johnson RB
The Cardinals were finally able to get out of the bad David Johnson contract. They traded Johnson to the Texans in exchange for WR DeAndre Hopkins. This trade should help Johnsons fantasy value a lot this season. Last season the Texans had Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson and if you combine the two they would have been the 5th ranked RB on the season. They also had 54 receptions which would have been the 9th best.
Miami Dolphins
Jordan Howard RB
Jordan Howard signed with the Dolphins for 2 years for $10 million dollars. This will be good for Howard as he will get a lot of carries as there is not much competition in the Dolphins backfield. Since Howard entered the NFL, he is 3rd in carries, 3rd in rushing yards and 7th in rushing touchdowns.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tom Brady QB
After two decades with the Patriots Tom Brady decided to leave. He signed a 2 year deal with $50 million dollars guaranteed. This season Brady will have the best weapons' he has ever had in his career. He will have two 1000 yard receivers and two excellent TEs at his disposal in the pass attack. The Bucs coach Bruce Arians loves to throw the ball as the Bucs were 6th in pass percent last season. Tom Brady still throws the deep ball well as he had 40.3% completion percent which is good with how much Tampa is going to throw the ball.
