2021 Sleepers

Jalen Hurts Quarterback Philadelphia Eagles

In 2020 Jalen Hurts showed in 3 games that he has the potential to be a good starting QB. This offseason the Eagles showed their confidence in Hurts as they traded QB Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts. In Hurts 3 games last season he averaged 79.3 rushing yards per game on 11.5 carries per game. He had 60+ yards rushing or a rushing touchdown in every game started. Hurts was 8th among QBs in fantasy points from week 14 on with more than 25 fantasy points per game. In his full games played (week 14-16) Hurts totaled 1000 passing yards, over 350 rushing yards, and 9 total touchdowns. He was 3rd among QBs in fantasy points scored (75.68) in weeks 14-16.

Trey Sermon

Running Back

San Francisco 49ers

In this seasons past draft in April the 49ers may have shown that they are starting the process of moving on from RB Raheem Mostert. The 49ers traded up to selected RB Trey Sermon in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Raheem Mostert’s injury history may have been a factor in selecting Sermon as Mostert has played all 16 games only once in his NFL career. Mostert for his career has not had many explosive games as he has topped the 100 yards rushing mark only twice in his career. Trey Sermon will have plenty of opportunities to take over the 49ers backfield as they have ranked in the top four in running back fantasy points in each of the past 2 seasons. The 49ers also have the easiest RB schedule in the NFL which does not hurt Sermons outlook for this season.

Brandin Cooks

Wide Receiver

Houston Texans

When you think about the Houston Texans for fantasy football this season you think of them as a wasteland. There is one player though that could have real value this season and that is the always undervalued WR Brandin Cooks. In 5 of Cooks past 6 seasons he has had more than 1000 receiving yards. In the 10 games in which Cooks saw 7 targets last season, he averaged 19.7 FPPG. With how bad the Texans will most likely be means that they will have to throw the ball more since they will be trailing.

Irv Smith Jr.

Tight End

Minnesota Vikings

In 2020 Irv Smith showed that given the opportunity he could be a top TE option. Last season in the final 4 weeks of the season Smith was 4th in fantasy points among TEs. Smith had 15 receptions (T-7th) for 183 receiving yards (6th) with 3 receiving touchdowns (T- 1st ) in his final 4 games. Irv Smith’s strong play came when Kyle Rudolph was out whom the Vikings did not bring back this season. In 3 years as Vikings QB Kirk Cousins ranks 1st in competitions percentage and 6th most red zone completions to the TE position.
