WR Drake London

Atlanta Falcons

Round 1 Pick 8

(8th Overall)

Drake London is a 6’5 210 pound receiver out of the University of Southern California. London has spent the last 3 seasons at USC. While at USC Drake London had 160 receptions for 2,153 receiving yards (13.5 yards per reception) and 15 receiving touchdowns. London is the only Trojan ever to twice have 15 or more catches in a game. He had a reception in 21 consecutive games, dating to 2019. He was the 2021 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2021. Drake London’s rare size at the receiver position is a really big advantage as he is excellent at high-pointing the ball. London is nearly unguardable in the red zone due to his size and athletic ability. Drake London was selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the 8th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Falcons are void of weapons in the passing game due to the Calvin Ridley suspension which means Drake London should get peppered with plenty of targets in the passing game. The Falcons most likely will not be that competitive this season which means that they will be playing from behind and have to throw the ball a lot.

WR Garrett Wilson

New York Jets

Round 1 Pick 10

(10th Overall)

Garrett Wilson is a 6’0 188 pound receiver out of the Ohio State University. Wilson has spent the last 3 seasons at OSU. While at OSU Wilson had 143 receptions for 2,213 receiving yards (15.5 yards per reception) and 23 receiving touchdowns. Wilson was named First-team All-American and Second-team All-Big Ten Conference in 2021. Wilson is a versatile target as he can play every receiver position on offense. He also has excellent short-area quickness which aides in selling his routs. Garrett Wilson was selected by the New York Jets with the 10th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Wilson joins a Jets offense that is a play-action one that he will have to use his quickness and great route running to get open one-on-one.

WR Chris Olave

New Orleans Saints Round 1 Pick 11

(11th Overall)

Chris Olave is a 6’1 189 pound receiver out of the Ohio State University. Olave has spent the last 4 seasons at OSU. He also is a savvy and smooth route-runner which means he can get open on just about any route. Chris Olave was selected by the New Orleans Saints with the 11th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Saints are an explosive offense that wants to stretch the field deep. Saints QB Jamies Winston likes to throw the ball deep which plays into Olaves’ strength which is his speed on routes down the field.

WR Treylon Burks Tennessee Titans

Round 1 Pick 18

(18th Overall)

Treylon Burks is a 6’3 225 pound receiver out of the University of Arkansas.Burks has spent the last 3 seasons at Arkansas. While at Arkansas Burks had 146 receptions for 2,399 receiving yards (16.4 yards per reception) and 18 receiving touchdowns. In 2021 Treylon Burks was named to the All-SEC First-Team (WR), Biletnikoff Award Watch List and Maxwell Award Watch List as the best receiver in the nation. Burks is very versatile as he can play all over the offensive formation. He can play inside in the slot or he can play outside as the “X” receiver position. Treylon Burks was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Titans are a run first team as they ran the ball on 49.3 % percent of the time in 2021. This may not be a good thing for Burks as he will not have many opportunities to make plays. The one thing that may be a positive for Burks is if he plays the A.J. Brown role in the offense. If the Titans use Burks in same ways as they did Brown we have seen that the offense can support a fantasy relevant receiver.

QB Kenny Pickett Pittsburgh Steelers Round 1 Pick 20

(20th Overall)

Kenny Pickett is a 6’3 220 pound Quarterback out of the University of Pittsburg. Pickett has spent the last 5 seasons at Pittsburg 4 of which he started and had a 32-20 record as the starting QB. Pickett completed 1045 of 1674 passes (62.4% completion rate) for 12,303 passing yards with 81 touchdown passes and 32 interceptions. He also ran for 809 rushing yards with 20 rushing touchdowns. Pickett broke Pitt’s record for career passing yards with 12,303 and Dan Marino’s school record for passing touchdowns (81). Pickett is excellent when throwing the ball on the move as his strength is in play-action plays. This is good as the Steelers run play-action offense and likes to have a mobile quarterback under center. Kenny Pickett was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Steelers have a strong run game and has solid pass catcher to throw the ball to which should be a positive thing for Pickett.

RB Breece Hall

New York Jets

Round 2 Pick 4

(36th Overall)

Breece Hall is a 6’1 220 pound Running Back out of Iowa State University. Hall has spent the last 3 seasons at Iowa State. He has the most career touchdowns (56), rushing touchdowns (50) and multi-TD games (20) in school history. Breece Hall is a true North/South runner with excellent size and strength. Due to his size and strength Hall is hard to bring down and wins in the short-yardage area of the field. Hall also has great patients and vision to wait for and see the whole when it opens up at the line of scrimmage. Breece Hall was selected by the New York Jets with the 36th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Jets traded up to selected Hall which means that he should be in store for a big role in the Jets running game. The Jets run a play-action offense that is predicated on getting the run game going which can only mean good things for Breece Hall and the Jets rushing attack in 2022.
