2024 New Coaches




Jerod Mayo New England Patriots


        Jerod Mayo attended Keroughlan High School, where he earned three letters in football as a linebacker and as a running back. Mayo attended the University of Tennessee from 2004-2007. Mayo was selected in the first round (10th overall) by the New England Patriots in the 2008 NFL Draft and spent his entire career with the Patriots. After the 2008 season Mayo was named the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year which was only the second time a Patriots rookie defensive player had ever won the award. Mayo was named a team captain for seven consecutive seasons and (2009-2015). In 2014 Mayo became a champion when the Patriots won the Super Bowl. On February 14, 2016 Mayo announded his retirement from the NFL. He served as an executive in finance at Optum as vice president of business development until his return to the Patriots in 2019. On March 27, 2019 the Patriots hired Mayo as their inside linebackers coach. In 2019 the Patriots were number one in total defense (275.9 yards per game) and scoring (14.1 points allowed per game). In 2022 the Patriots defense finished 8th in yards allowed and tied for second with 30 total takeaways. In 2023 they were ranked seventh in total defense allowing 3.3 yards per rush thie lowest in the league and lowest in team history since the 1970 merger. Since Mayo has been on the Patriots defensive coaching staff New England has finished top-10 in total defense in four of his five seasons. Jerod Mayo was hired on January 17, 2024 as the 15ᵗʰ head coach in Patriots franchise history.



        Alex Van Pelt attended the University of Pittsburg where he was a Quarterback. Van Pelt broke multiple passing records held by Dan Marina at Pittsburgh. Van Pelt was an eighth round pick by the Pittsburg Steelers in 1993 but was released during training camp. Van Pelt signed with the Bills in 1995 as a free agent where he would spend his entire nine-year career. He retired in 2003 and spent two seasons as the Bills color analyst on the radio before starting his coaching career. In 2009 Van Pelt was the Quarterback coach of the Franfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe. Van Pelt was the Bills offensive quality control coach in 2006. He was promoted in 2008 the quarterback coach and in 2009 was promoted to Bills offensive coordinator. Van Pelt was the Buccaneers Quarterback coach for the 2010-2011 where he helped the quarterbacks in Tampa throw for 7,043 yards (over two-years) which was second in franchise history up until that point. He was hired in 2012 as the Packers running backs coach where Packers rookie running back Eddie Lacy to set franchise rookie records for rushing yards (1,178) and rushing touchdowns(11). Alex Van Pelt was the QB coach with the Green Bay Packers in 2014-2017. In that span Aaron Rodgers played the best in his career as he had 64% completions with 14305 passing yards and 125 touchdown passes with 26 interceptions. In 2014 Aaron Rodgers won the NFL MVP with 4381 passing yards, 38 touchdowns with 5 interceptions and a passer rating of 112.2. In 2016 Rodgers led the NFL with 40 touchdowns and became the second QB in NFL history to post 600 plus attempts and 7 or fewer interceptions in a season. Alex Van Pelt was the Bengals quarterback coach for the 2018-2019 seasons. Van Pelt has been the Browns offensive coordinator since 2020. In 2020 Van Pelt led Cleveland to 408 points which was second-most in franchise history. They also finished with their second-best total in scrimmage touchdowns (48) and tied for second-most first downs (355). The Browns finished as the third best rushing team in the NFL with an average of 148.4 yards per game (best since 1978). Van Pelt helped the Browns in 2021 to lead the league in rushing average with 5.09 yards per rush the highest since 1966. The Browns had the fourth most scrimmage yards in a single season with 6,090 yards. The Browns fired Van Pelt after the 2023 NFL season. Alex Van Pelt was hired as the New England Patriots offensive coordination on February 1, 2024.







Antonio Pierce Las Vegas Raiders


          Antonio Pierce attended Paramount High School in Paramount, California. In college Pierce attended Mount San Antonio College for two years and then transferred to Arizona for his final two seasons of collegiate eligibility. Antonio Pierce went undrafted in the 2001 NFL draft but signed with Washington. On March 3, 2005 Pierce signed with the New York Giants to start at middle linebacker. In 2007 Pierce was a crucial part in the Giants run to win the Super Bowl that season. On February 11, 2010 the Giants released Pierce which ultimately led to him retiring and starting his career as an tv analyst.in February of 2014 Pierce was named the head coach of Long Beach Polytechnic High School. Pierce resigned as head coach of Long Beach on December 21,2017 and accepted a job as the linebacker coach at Arizona State University. After two seasons he was promoted to co-defensive coordinator and then on January 20, 2021 was named the sole defensive coordinator. As Sun Devils defensive coordinator Pierce lead them to rank first in the Pack-12 in scoring defense (20.8), first in total yards allowed per game (326.3), tied for first in defensive touchdowns (3), second in interceptions (16) and second in sacks (27). Prior to the 2022 season Pierce resigned as defensive coordinator due to NCAA recruiting violations. Pierce was hired by the Las Vegas Raiders as their linebacker coach under head coach Josh McDaniels. On October 31, 2023 Antonio Pierce was named the interim head coach of the Raiders and went 5-4 in the final nine games of 2023. With Pierce as interim coach the Raiders finished 2023 with the fewest penalties in the NFL (75) and had two games without a penalty. The Raiders defense was tied for 10th in the NFL in takeaways (14), tied for fifth in turnover margin(+6), and tied for third in the league with sacks (30). They also were giving up a league-low 16 points per game to opponents. During his nine games in charge Las Vegas was on of just three teams to score 20-or-more points in each of the last four regular season games. Antonio Pierce was named as the Raiders 23rd head coach in Raiders franchise history on January 19, 2024.



        Luke Getsy attended Steel Valley High School for four-years as a quarterback. Getsy attended the University of Pittsburgh on a football scholarship for two seasons before transferring to the University of Akron. While at Akron Getsy lead the Zips to their first conference championship and to their first-ever bowl game, the Motor City Bowl. Getsy broke 24 school record in his tenure with the Zips. In 2007 Getsy signed with the San Francisco 49ers as a undrafted free agent. In 2007-2008 Getsy started his career as a coach at Akron University as a graduate assistant. After two seasons in 2009  Getsy was the West Virginia Wesleyan College offensive coordinator, quarterback coach and academic coordinator. In 2010 he was at the University of Pittsburgh as a graduate assistant. In 2011 Getsy was named as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 2012 Getsy led Indiana University of Pennsylvania to a 10th rank offense nationally in Division II.Getsy was named in 2013 the wide receivers coach at Western Michigan University. On February 7, 2014 Getsy got his first NFL job as the Packers offensive quality control coach and then was promoted to wide receivers coach in 2016. In 2014 Getsy was part of a Packers offensive staff that led the league in scoring (30.4 ppg) and tied for number one in fewest giveaways (13). In January of 2017 Getsy became the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach for Mississippi State University. In 2018 while Luke Getsy was at Mississippi State the Bulldogs passed 54% of the time and ran 46%. They did throw a deep pass on 23% of their plays which ranked 30th out of 233 teams that season. They ranked 39th in pass yards per attempt (6.9) 96th in screen passes (14%) and 68th on play-action passes (33%). They offense also ran 11 personnel (three WR sets) 98% of the time, that was the fifth most that season. The Bulldogs rank No. 2 in the SEC in rushing offense and yards per carry. After his stint at Mississippi State Getsy returned to the Packers in 2019 as qb coach and a year later was promoted to passing game coordinator. As packers passing game coordinator Getsy helped the offense lead the league in scoring (31.8 ppg), set NFL record for red-zone touchdown percentage (80) and posted the team’s highest third-down percentage (49.4%) since 1970. In 2021 Getsy helped lead Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to win the NFL MVP Award. On January 30,2022 Getsy was named as the Bears offensive coordinator. In 2022 he led the Bears to a franchise record 3,014 rushing yards and a league best 177.3 rushing yards per game. During the 2023 season the Bears had an offense that ranked second in rushing attempts (534), rushing yards (2,399) and rushing yards per game (141.1). Luke Getsy was hired as the Raiders offensive coordinator on February 6,2024.






Jim Harbaugh Los Angeles Chargers

  

            Jim Harbaugh attended Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto, California. Harbaugh attended the University of Michigan as a quarterback from 1982-1986. Jim Harbaugh was selected by the Bears in the first round (26th) overall in the 1987 NFL Draft. Harbaugh signed with the Colts on April 7, 1994 after starting his career with the Bears. On February 14, 1998 Harbaugh was to the Ravens for a third and fourth-round picks in the 1998 NFL Draft. After one season with the Ravens Harbaugh signed with the Chargers in 1999. In 2001 Harbaugh signed with the Lions and was released right before the season but was signed by the Panthers where he would end his playing career. In 1994-2001 while still playing Harbaugh was an unpaid assistant coach and an offensive consultant for his dad at Western Kentucky. In 2002-2003 Harbaugh was the quarterbacks coach for the Raiders and won a Super Bowl ring in 2003 with the Raiders. From 2004-2006 Harbaugh was the head coach at the University of San Diego. In 2007 Jim Harbaugh was named as the head coach of the University of Stanford football team. On January 7, 2011 Jim Harbaugh made the jump to the NFL as he was named the head coach of the 49ers. Harbaugh was named NFL coach of the Year after his first season with the 49ers in 2011. During his tenure with the 49ers their defense lead the NFL in rushing defense (92 yards per game), number 2 in scoring defense (17.4 points per game), third in total defense (310.2) and fourth with 122 takeaways. On December 28, 2014 the 49ers and Harbaugh agreed to mutually part ways ending his tenure in the Bay. On December 30, 2014 Harbaugh returned to his Alma mater Michigan as the Wolverines head coach. From 2015-2023 Michigans defense was top five in the nation allowing just 291 yards. Michigan was top-five in 5 of 9 seasons including two seasons as the top ranked defense. While at Michigan Harbaugh lead the Wolverines to 10 wins six times and was in the College Football Playoff three consecutive seasons. In his final season at Michigan he led Michigan to a win in the National Championship Game over Washington. Jim Harbaugh was hired on January 24, 2024 as the coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.




           Greg Roman attended Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, New Jersey. He attended John Carroll University on an academic scholarship as a defensive lineman.  Romans first coaching job came in 1995 with the Panthers as an unpaid strength and conditioning coach. He was hired by the Texans in 2002 at their tight ends and quarterbacks coach. In 2006 Roman was an offensive line assistant for the Ravens. For 2008 he returned to Holy Spirits High School as offensive coordinator. In 2009 Roman was the associate head coach at the University of Stanford. In 2011-2014 as the 49ers offensive coordinator Roman oversaw an offense that ranked second in the NFL in rushing averaging 139.3 yards per game. Roman was the Bills offense coordinator for one season until Rex Ryan. From 2017-2023 Roman served in multiple roles on the Ravens offensive staff. He was offensive assistant and tight ends coach., assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. Greg Roman resigned as Ravens offensive coordinator on January 19,2023. In Greg Romans’ 10 seasons as an offensive coordinator his offenses finished Top 10 in rush attempts and Yards every year. 7 times top 3 in rush attempts, top 4 in yards 9 times and 28th or lower in pass att in 9 of 10 years (31st or 32nd 7 times). Greg Roman was hired as the Chargers offensive coordinator on February 8,2024.







Raheem Morris Atlanta Falcons


         Raheem Morris attended Irvington High School in New Jersey. Morris attended Hofstra University as a safety and began his career as a coach as a graduate assistant coach during his time in college. He also received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education at Hofstra University. In 1999 Morris was hired by Cornell as defensive backs coach and special teams assistant but returned to Hofstra after only one season at Cornell. In 2002 Morris was hired by the Buccaneers and served in multiple roles. He was the defensive quality control coach, defensive assistant and defensive assistant. In 2003 Morris won the Super Bowl with the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers defense in their Super Bowl season allowed an NFL-low 12.3 points per game. Morris spent one season at Kansas State as their defensive coordinator in 2006. In 2007 Morris returned to the Buccaneers as their defensive backs coach. In 2008 it was announced that he would be promoted to defensive coordinator after Monte Kiffin was leaving. Morris was promoted to head coach of the Buccaneers a month into the 2009 season after head coach Jon Gruden was fired. In 10 seasons with the Buccaneers the Buccaneers defense finished fifth in total defense five times, while leading the league in 2002 and 2005. They also finished as the top-rated pass defense three times. From 2007-2007 the Buccaneers ranked second in the NFL in allowing 170.5 passing yards per game. In that span they ranked among the league leaders with 22 interceptions. Morris was fired by the Buccaneers on January 2, 2012 and was hired by Washington as their defensive backs coach on January 11, 2012. Morris lead Washington to finish tied for fifth in the NFL with 31 takeaways and tie a league high with 94 passes defensed. On January 26, 2015 Morris signed with the Falcons and served in many roles. He was assistant head coach, defensive backs coach, wide receivers coach, defensive coordinator and interim head coach. In his first season with the team Morris lead the defense to only allow 19 passing touchdowns, which was tied for the third-lowest in the NFL while recording 15 interceptions, which ranked top ten in the league. They had a 1.27 touchdown-to-interception ratio, the seventh-best TD/Int ratio in 2015. In 2016 after spending his first season with the team as assistant head coach/defensive passing game coordinator, Morris transitioned to the offensive side of the ball. In 2018, while on the offensive side of the Falcons averaged 290.8 passing yards per game, the fourth-best average in the league. In the 2020 season now back on the defensive side of the ball Morris lead the Falcons defense to be tied for sixth in the league in red zone defense (82.1 percent) and sixth in rush defense (104.8 yards per game). On January 21, 2021 Morris signed with the Rams as their defensive coordinator. In 2021 in his first season as the Rams defensive coordinator he led a defensive ranked sixth in the NFL in opponents rushing yards per game (103.2) and fifth in yards per rush (3.96). Morris' unit held opponents to a 51.8 percent red zone efficiency rate, which ranked eighth. Morris also led a secondary that ranked fifth in opponent passer rating (83.8) and third in interceptions (19). The secondary finished second in the NFL with 17 opponent passing touchdowns allowed and a 0.89 opponent touchdown-to-interception ratio. The following season in 2022, Morris led a Rams defense that led the NFL in red zone efficiency (44.4 percent), ranked second in goal-to-go efficiency (53.3 percent), seventh in interceptions (16) and ninth in defensive total rush EPA (42.97). Morris' unit ranked third in sacks (50) and fifth in tackles for loss (85) during the regular season and won the Super Bowl. During his time with the Rams the defense has recorded the fourth-best red zone efficiency rating and the seventh-fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL.Raheem Morris was hired as the head coach of the Falcons on January 25, 2024.




              Zac Robinson attended Chatfield High School as a Quarterback, Running Back and Wide Receiver. He attended Oklahoma State University as a Quarterback in 2005. Robinson was drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round (25th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. Robinson was released after training camp on September 4, 2010. On February 23, 2019 Robinson began coaching with the Rams where he would hold many roles. He was assistant quarterbacks coach, assistant wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator. In 2021 after the Rams  acquired Matthew Stafford Robinson help Stafford to finished the season ranked in the top five in passing yards (4,886), passing first downs (233), yards per attempt (8.13) and touchdown passes (41), matching his career high. In 2022 Robinson and the Rams won Super Bowl LVI. This past season Robinson helped Matthew Stafford rank in the top 12 among quarterbacks in completions, passing yards and touchdown passes. He also helped Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua recorded the most receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486) by a rookie in NFL history. On January 29, 2024 Zac Robinson was hired as the Falcons offensive coordinator.







Dan Quinn Washington Commanders


     Dan Quinn attended Morristown High School in New Jersey. He attended Salisbury University, a Division III school, as a defensive lineman. From 1994-1995 Quinn was the defensive line coach for William & Mary Tribe and Virginia Military Institute. In 1996 Quinn was hired as Hofstras defensive line coach and then in 2000 was promoted to defensive coordinator. Quinn was the 49ers defensive quality control coach from 2001-2002 and then the defensive line coach in 2003-2004. From 2005-2012 he was a defensive line coach for the Dolphins, Jets, Seahawks and Florida Gators. He also was the Gaters defensive coordinator for one season in 2011-2012. In 2013 Quinn was hired as the Seahawks defensive coordinator and they lead the league in fewest points allowed (231), fewest yards allowed (4,378), and takeaways (39). They were ranked number one in fewest yards allowed (270.4), points allowed (152), passing yards allowed (178.8) and rushing yards-per-game (91.6). The Seahawks also ended the season with a win in Super Bowl XLVIII over the Broncos. On February 2, 2015 Quinn was hired by the Falcons as their head coach. He was fired on October 11, 2020 after 5 seasons with the Falcons. The Falcons ranked sixth in the NFL in total takeaways with 105 during his tenure in Atlanta. Quinn was hired as the Cowboys defensive coordinator on January 11, 2021. From 2021-23, Quinn's unit ranked No. 5 in the NFL in points-per-game (19.9), No. 7 in the NFL in net yards allowed-per-game (327.0), No. 6 in the NFL in sacks (141) and No. 1 in the NFL in interceptions (59). His unit also ranked No. 4 in the NFL in that span in third down conversion percentage (36.4%). Dan Quinn was hired as the Commanders head coach on February 3, 2024.




      Kliff Kingsbury attended New Braunfels High School where he was a member of the football, baseball, basketball and track teams. Kingsbury attended Texas Tech University from 1998-2002 as a quarterback. Kingsbury became one of three players in NCAA history to have more than 12,000 passing yards and total yards, with 1,000-plus completions. Kingsbury was selected by the Patriots with the 201st overall selection (6th round) of the 2003 NFL Draft. Kingsbury from 2003-2007 played for the Patriots, Saints, Broncos, Jets, Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe, Bills, Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League and Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. Kingsbury started his career coaching at Houston where he spent 2008-2011 as the offensive quality control coach, Co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The Cougars offense in 2011 led the nation in total offense (599.1), passing offense (450.1) and scoring (49.3). In 2012 he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Texas A&M. The Aggies ranked third nationally in total offense (558.5), 13th nationally in rushing offense (242.1) and 14th in passing offense (316.5). Kingsbury was the head coach of Texas Tech from 2013-2018. In 2015, Texas Tech ranked second in the country in total offense (570.5), passing offense (388.2) and scoring offense (45.1). Each season that Kingsbury called plays for the Red Raiders' offense, they ranked in the top 10 for passing yards and in the top 20 in total offense. His teams also averaged at least 30 points per game in every season. Kingsbury’s offense threw the ball 61.5% of the time. In four of his six seasons at Texas Tech RBs under Kingsbury had at least 20 rushes a game. In the two seasons the RBs did not have 20 rushes a game the RBs had 19.2 and 19.6 respectively. On January 8, 2019 Kingsbury was named the Cardinals head coach. The Cardinals offense ranked top 10 in the league in total offense (8th), touchdowns scored (tied for 8th) and rushing offense (10th). Arizona was one of three teams to rank in the top 10 in total, rushing and passing offense that season. Kingsbury was the senior offensive analyst at USC in 2023. USC's offense scored 41.85 points per game. Kliff Kingsbury was hired on February 5, 2024 as the Commanders offensive coordinator.







Dave Canales Carolina Panthers


         Dave Canales attended Carson High School as a Wide Receiver and Defensive Back. Canales attended Azusa Pacific University for college. He began his career as a coach at Carson High School as the head coach and offensive coordinator of the freshman/sophomore team from 2004-2005. From 2006-2008 Canales was at El Camino (Calif.) College where he served as the special teams, tight ends and quarterbacks coach. From 2010-2022 Canales was with the Seahawks where he served in multiple roles. He was the Wide Receivers coach, quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. Canales won Super Bowl XLVIII versus the Broncos in 2013. During Canales' tenure in Seattle, recording 7.61 passing yards per attempt and 4.53 rushing yards per attempt over the 13-year run. Seattle was the only offense to rank in the top five in both of those categories during that span. On February 16, 2023 Canales was named as the Buccaneers offensive coordinator. Dave Canales was hired as the head coach of the Panthers on January 25, 2024.



             Brad Idzik attended Mercer Island High School in Mercer Island, Washington. Idzik attended Lehigh and Wake Forest University in College. In 2014 he began his career as a coach at Stanford as a Graduate assistant. From 2019- 2022 he was the Seahawks assistant wide receivers coach, assistant quarterbacks coach and offensive quality control coach. In 2023 Idzik was the wide receivers coach of the Buccaneers. Brad Idzik was hired on February 8, 2024 as the offensive coordinator of the Panthers.








Brian Callahan Tennessee Titans


          Brian Callahan attended De La Salle High School in Concord, California. Callahan attended University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as a quarterback. For 2006-2007 Callahan was a graduate assistant at UCLA. From 2008-2009 he was the offensive coordinator for Juniper Serra High School in San Mateo, California. From 2010-2015 Callahan was with the Broncos in many different positions. He was the coaching assistant,offensive quality control coach and offensive assistant. Callahan won Super Bowl 50 versus the Panthers. In 2016-2017 Callahan spent the next two season as the Lions quarterbacks coach. Working with Matthew Stafford, Callahan helped the veteran finish third in passing yards (4,446) and fourth in passing touchdowns (29) in 2017. In 2018 Callahan served as the Raiders quarterbacks coach. From 2019-2023 Callahan was the Bengals offensive coordinator. In 2021 Bengals ranked seventh in passing offense (259.0 yards per game) and tied for seventh in points per game (27.1). In 2022, the Bengals ranked seventh in the NFL in points per game (26.1), eighth in total offense (360.5 yards per game) and fifth in passing offense (265.0). During his Callahans tenure the Bengals offense ranked in the NFL's top 10 in several categories: sixth in scoring (24.9), seventh in passing (250.8 yards per game), seventh in red-zone efficiency (61.5 percent), 10th in third-down percentage (41.0) and sixth in time of possession (31:00). Brian Callahan was hired on January 24, 2024 as the Titans head coach



        Nick Holtz attended De La Salle High School as a wide receiver. Holtz was a walk-on with the Colorado Buffaloes in 2002. In 2007 Holtz was the offensive quality control coach and video intern at Nebraska. From 2008-2011 he was an offensive and operations assistant and assistant quarterbacks coach for Stanford. From 2012-2021 Holtz was the Raiders offensive assistant, offensive quality control coach and assistant wide receivers coach. Holtz was hired by UNLV as their offensive coordinator in 2022. In 2023 Holtz was the passing game coordinator for the Jaguars. The Jaguars ranked ninth in the NFL in passing (242.7 yards per game) and 13th in points scored (22.2 points per game). Nick Holtz was hired as offensive coordinator of the Titans on February 5, 2024.








Mike Macdonald Seattle Seahawks


          Mike Macdonald attended Centennial High School where he played baseball and football. Macdonald attended the University of Georgia for college. Macdonald started his career as a coach at Cedar Shoals High School in 2008 as a linebackers and running backs coach. From 2010-2013 Macdonald was at Georgia as a graduate assistant and defensive quality control assistant. From 2014-2020 he served in multiple roles with the Ravens. Macdonald was a coaching intern, defensive assistant, defensive backs coach and linebackers coach. From 2018-20, Baltimore produce the NFL's No. 1 overall defense (307.8 ypg) during that span, while also permitting the league's fewest points per game (18.2). In 2018, the Ravens produced the NFL's No. 1 defense, allowing 292.9 yards per game, while also permitting the league's second-fewest points per game (17.9). In 2019, allowing the NFL's third-fewest points (17.6) and fourth-fewest yards (300.6 ypg). Baltimore also ranked fifth against the run (93.4 ypg) and No. 6 in pass defense (207.2 ypg). In 2020, Baltimore allowed the NFL's second-fewest points (18.9) and seventh-fewest yards (329.8 ypg). The Ravens also owned the No. 2 third-down defense (34.0 percent) and produced a league-high 25 forced fumbles. In 2022, finding success as the Ravens ranked third in scoring defense (18.5 ppg), third in run defense (92.1 ypg), third in red zone defense (46.4 percent) and fourth in third-down defense (34.9 percent). In 2023 the Ravens defense became the first in NFL history to finish a season ranking No. 1 in each of the following categories: points allowed (16.5 ppg), sacks (60) and takeaways (31, tied with the N.Y.            Ryan Grubb attended Kingsley-Pierson High School. Grubb attended Buena Vista University as a running back and wide receiver from 1994-1997. He was the offensive coordinator for Kingsley-Pierson in 2003-2004. From 2005-2006 Grubb was the running backs and wide receivers coach at South Dakota State University. From 2007-2013 he was the run game coordinator, offensive coordinator,offensive line and quarterbacks coach for Sioux Falls. Grubbs was the offensive line coach for Eastern Michigan from 2014-2016. They allowed the eighth-fewest sacks in the nation in 2016, as well as setting the school record for team offense with 5,917 yards, points scored (385), passing yards (3,849), and touchdown passes (25). From 2017-2021 he was at Fresno State where he had many different roles. He was the run game coordinator, offensive line coach, quarterbacks coach, assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. In 2020 conference-best 479.3 yards total offense per game, and the league's second-highest points per game total (32.8). Fresno State also led the Mountain West in passing yards per game, and ranked fifth in the FBS in that category (356.3). The Bulldogs ranked No. 1 in the Mountain West Conference in total offense (464.8 ypg), second in scoring offense (33.4 ppg) and passing offense (330.1 ypg). In 2022-2023 Grubbs was the assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Washington. Washington led the nation in both passing offense (369.8 ypg) and third-down conversions (57 percent), while also finishing second in total offense (515.8 ypg). They also had top-25 finishes in sacks allowed (2nd), first downs (5th), scoring offense (7th), and rushing offense (25th). Ryan Grubb was hired as the Seahawks offensive coordinator on February 13, 2024.
