New Coaches Affect on New Team

Kliff Kingsbury Arizona Cardinals

Kliff Kingsbury was hired as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals on January 8, 2019. Tom Clements will serve as the Cardinals offensive coordinator. While at Texas Tech Kingsbury ran the air raid offense, which threw the ball 61.5% of the time, will run a balanced offense in the NFL. The offense will be run 99% of the time from the shot gun formation. David Johnson will be a focal point in the offense as he will be involved heavily in the running and passing game. In four of his six seasons at Texas Tech RBs under Kingsbury had at least 20 rushes a game. In the two seasons the RBs did not have 20 rushes a game the RBs had 19.2 and 19.6 respectively.

Zac Taylor Cincinnati Bengals

Zac Taylor was hired as head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals on February 4, 2019. Brian Callahan will serve as the offensive coordinator. The offense that Taylor is going to run is the West Coast offense. The West Coast offense puts more emphasis on passing the ball than running the ball. When Zac Taylor was in Detroit he helped Matthew Stafford to career highs in two seasons in yards per attempt (7.9,7.3), interception percentage (1.7,1.8) and QBR (66.5,65.3). He also helped Derek Carr to a career high in yards per attempt (7.3) and second-smallest interception rate (1.8). This should help Andy Dalton the most as he is a QB similar to the ones that Taylor has worked with in the past and has helped to lead them to have career years.

Vic Fangio Denver Broncos

Vic Fangio was hired as head coach of the Denver Broncos on January 10, 2019. Rich Schangarello will serve as the offensive coordinator. The offense that the Broncos are going to run is the West Coast offense with the zone run scheme. An example of the offense is the one that Kyle Shanahan runs with the San Francisco 49ers. The X- receiver is the most productive receiver in the offence. The X-receiver lined up as the split end on the left side of the formation. An example of the X-receiver in this offense is Julio Jones. The RBs in the zone run are productive. When Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman had his break-out season it was in the zone run scheme.

Matt LeFleur Green Bay Packers

Matt LeFleur was hired as head coach of the Green Bay Packers on January 8,2019. Nathaniel Hackett will serve as the offensive coordinator. The Packers are going to run an offense that is strong on running the ball and getting the ball out of the QBs hands quickly. This will help Aaron Rodgers as he will not take as many big hits and he will have a run game which he has not had since he has been in Green Bay.

LeFleur also wants to use a play-action passing game. Play-action passing is where the offense moves the pocket and attacks down the field. This will make Aaron Rodgers even more of a threat on offense as he thrives when the pocket moves just ask the Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions how that worked out.

Brian Flores Miami Dolphins

Brian Flores was hired as head coach of the Miami Dolphins on February 4,2019. Chad O'Shea will serve as the offensive coordinator. The Dolphins are going to run an offense similar to what the New England Patriots run. In the offense the RBs will be involved in the pass game. They will take vertical shots down the field but will not rely on it. They will rely on the slot receivers the most in the offense to make plays.

Adam Gase New York Jets

Adam Gase was hired as head coach of the New York Jets on January 11, 2019. Dowell Loggains will serve as the offensive coordinator. The offensive system that the Jets are going to run is one where they design it to maximize their players abilities. The one position group that has had success under Gase has been the slot receiver. Most RBs under Gase have not been used much but he has never had a back with the skills Le'Veon Bell has.

Bruce Arians Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Bruce Arians was hired as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on January 8, 2019. Bryon Leftwich will serve as the offensive coordinator. The offense that Tampa Bay is going to run is a pass-first offense that encourages QBs to take shots down the field. Bruce Arians saying about taking shots down the field is "No risk it, no biscuit". In the offense the RBs need to have the ability to make plays as a receiver out of the backfield.
