Play 'Em Bench 'EM QBs For Week 1

Play ‘Em

Tyrod Taylor Los Angeles Chargers @ Cincinnati Bengals

If you waited on a QB in your fantasy draft this season you very well may have ended up with Tyrod Taylor as your QB. Tyrod is a solid start this week as he will score points with both his passing and running abilities. The Bengals gave up an average of 20.07 points per game to opposing QBs last season. They were the 31st ranked defense at defending the QB position.

Ben Roethlisberger Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Giants         Last season was a lost season for Big Ben as he went down with an elbow injury in week 2. This season he is coming into the season healthy and said that he feels the best he felt in years. This week he faces a Giants defense that last season gave up 30 touchdown pass. With the game being a road game for the Steelers is good as Roethlisberger had 19-plus points in 7 of his 8 road games in 2018(his last full season). The Giants gave up an average of 19.12 points per game to opposing QBs last season. They were the 28th ranked defense at defending the QB position.

Bench ‘Em

Matthew Stafford Detroit Lions vs Chicago Bears

Last season before Stafford got hurt he was playing at a top 5 QB level but that has a good chance of not continuing into this season. The Lions defense should be improved this season which means that the Lions will not have to throw as much. This offseason Lions coach Matt Patricia has said that they want to run the ball more this season which is not good for Stafford. The drafting of RB D’Andre Swift and signing of RB Adrian Peterson shows that the Lions are committed to running the ball this season.

The Bears gave up an average of 11.20 points per game to opposing QBs last season. They were the 2nd ranked defense at defending the QB position.

Joe Burrow Cincinnati Bengals vs Los Angeles Chargers

Last season at LSU Burrow made playing QB look easy but that may not be the case early on this season. The reason is the fact that due to Covid-19 the offseason has been condensed and there has not been any preseason games. This week the Bengals face the Chargers who have DE Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa who will want to welcome Burrow to the NFL. The Chargers gave up an average of 14.81 points per game to opposing QBs last season. They were the 12th ranked defense at defending the QB position.
