What I Learned in Fantasy Football in 2020

Golden Age for Athletic QBs

For years a QB in fantasy football with rushing upside was considered a cheat code. That thinking is a thing of the past though as having a QB with rushing upside is mandatory. 4 of the top 5 QBs had at least 300 rushing yards in the 2020 season. A record 126 rushing TDs from the QB position was scored in 2020. 20 different QBs had three or more rushing TDs compared to 12 in 2019. Nine different QBs had five or more rushing TDs while 2019 produced only three who had more than four rushing TDs. If you have a QB with zero rushing upside you are putting yourself at a huge disadvantage.

Handcuffs are a Must

If you have a top flight RB having his backup or (handcuff) is a must. Last season shower the importance of this strategy with the number of injuries to the RB position. All but 1 (Derrick Henry) of the top 10 RBs drafted in 2020 missed at least 1 game this past season. The handcuffs when they stepped in for the starter in some cases was a top 10 to 15 back on the entire season.

Wasteland at TE

If you did not select one of the top TEs last season you know how bad it was at the position. TE1 (Travis Kelce) to TE3 (Logan Thomas) were separated by 143 more fantasy points. Travis Kelce (TE1) scored twice as many fantasy points than all but 5 TEs this past season. The TE position once you got past the top 2 TEs was extremely inconsistent all season long.
